I think indexing in DMOZ is important but not the essential one. If you can indexed in DMOZ then it will be bonus for you for inceasing page rank.

Does DMOZ remain an important tool? Why? I'm not used but I would like to understand how can DMOZ increases the visibility of my website. It's simple to be in DMOZ, can i make this? I repeat, I'm not webmaster and I'm not competent in this way. Thanks for your response!

Well, I think that it's rather important for a webmaster to be listed in DMOZ as it's a really large and reputable directory. However, it's really difficult to get their, especially for commercial sites. In fact, I think that the only way of managing it is to become an editor.
