DMSTK forums

Prettiest phpbb forum engine skin I've seen on the web:

http://www.domestika.org/foros/index.php

We here use the same engine, btw. But, not for long if all goes well. :)

well, don't worry about that. Suppose it isn't the best start point to learn spanish, because sometimes neither the spanishs understand what other spanish says  But indeed, i'm pretty sure you'll learn something, bad or good, i don't know, but something! :D

Ivan's picture

is that because of the different dialects or because of too much slang?

well, a little mix of both ;)

No, i mean, i was only being ironic. If we're talking about DMSTK, people use slang but not so many, i guess like in a normal english forum like CB. There are expressions and you have to get used to them. That's all. I guess that could be a little difficult at the beginning, and some expressions could seem strange (like in english BTW,OMG,IMHO, and all the stuff). But you get used to them...

In the spanish scene, and now i'm talking in general, the biggest problem i see is the abuse of slang. You have to think that the spanish spoken community is very big and not concentrated only in Spain (South America, and so on), and as you can guess the locale slangs get very different from one point to other. For a spanish spoken, well, he can lifes with that, but for a non spanish spoken, things get difficult.

Well, thats a self-reflexion :?

Talking about DMSTK again, i don't think you'll got real problems understanding us. And, if you get them, simply ask! I'll be glad to help you and know so many too! ;)

I hate to be a party pooper, but I think it's just about the UGLIEST forum skin I've ever seen. Flat & boring, and the color choices are just... well, icky!

This brings up an interesting question for me. I guess there is no absolute beauty. It's a rather phylosophical question, but is there a thing we can all agree on that IS pretty?

Like do you see the Mona Lisa pretty? I don't, but seems like big part of the world loves it. Do you see Britney Spears pretty. I don't but again millions think otherwise. Piramids? Boring. Guggenheim Museum Bilbao? Love it. Most people hate it. :?

Have you read Ayn Rand's Fountainhead? In it she bluntly states that the masses follow art critics with blind devotion to following public opinion. I have a hard time believing so many people really find Mona as amazing as they say....

This is a hoot.

An art prankster Bankey entered the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum, the Brooklyn Museum and the Museum of Natural History and mounted his own art on the walls.

Check out the story here

Quote:

"These galleries are just trophy cabinets for a handful of millionaires," he wrote in an e-mail exchange published in a news article. "The public never has any real say in what art they see," Banksy wrote.

Quote:

By planting bogus works that escaped the attention of casual viewers (and guards), Banksy may be pointing out how little knowledge people bring to the viewing of art. "That's the trade-off in the democratization of art," Vincent says. More people have access, but fewer people bring any background to the experience.

This guy is freaking brilliant. I love that dead beetle specimen.

That skin doesn't do anything for me, and actually seems less user friendly to that of this one right here. Just my two cents.

It's all just 1's and 0's
