BTW, when you type @theirname, what does that mean exactly? Is that like a direct chat with that particular person? What does the @ symbol mean really? So the other "tweeters" know it's more directed at somebody else?

Suz, you should get TweetDeck. It helps Twitter make sense and lets you follow Twitter in so many useful ways.
You can also track things like #basstip (I made this one!) and when you search for that hashtag you can see all posts related to that subject.
#elections was a big one last year. :)
