Not bad, but please ditch the pseudo asian-y font and the centered text. I can't really tell what's most important here, message wise, because besides the logo (which, well done, is prominent) All your messsages run together.

Great first effort. Maybe you can do more with the background (I hate to say add to that white background, but it would look cooler and match the style of the photo if you had something designed, and scaled back, behind the photo.

I recommend you stay away from fonts like papyrus and comic sans. Works with fonts with clean serifs. I think it would be neat if you justified it all to the left and worked with the type to provide emphasis on certain information.

Much better said. :) And thanks for reminding me of the name of that awful font! Papyrus... :) Just kidding! Love your icon...

I had instructors that really hated that font so, I got to know it. LOL!

I don't claim to know much about typography and design, as I haven't been to college either, but I echo anny when I say:

"EWW! PAPYRUS!"

Otherwise, I think the glowing 'e' is fine (reading some comments below).

Putting "Or" and "Plus" in their own separate lines is awkward, however, especially when the word is capitalized like that.

The photo of the girl I also think needs to be moved to the right so her hair can run off the margins. The text does not seem to be text wrapped very nicely around her picture either. You could spend a little more time doing this.

Try using larger sizes for the more important parts of your very lengthy text. There's too much; if it were me, I wouldn't read through so much on a flyer before I simply lost interest.

unfortunately the font was waaaaay better before the first proof was sent to my client, and as for the centerd font that was also left justified, the client was quite clear on what they wanted and new exactly the name of that font, Which i agree, i blooming hate it :D thanks anyway guys :X

Ok, here's my two cents...

Background: I don't think that the "e" with the glow is adding to the design, and is, in fact a bit of a distraction. I would either soften it or ditch it all together. I like thee picture of the girl, but I think she would look better a little larger and moved to the right so that the right side of her hair ran off the page. As it is, she is stuck in limbo between running off and centered.

Logo: The logo itself is fine, but having incorporated the contact information in that way seems akward to me. I think it would be better suited below the logo or placed elsewhere on the page.

Body type: Papyrus doesn't work well for body type. Use a more standard font and use different font weights and sizes to create some heirarchy. Its up to you to determine where the readers eye goes. You also need to give the type some breathing room from the side of the page (margin), and from the photo of the girl. Its like she is about to eat October. And I like October.

Not too bad, though. The type stuff will come with experience.

Papyrus is wrong. Your client is wrong.

Is your client aware that "ethereal" is misspelled? This must be a trend. There's a beauty salon in my town that spells itself "Salon Emagé," a phonetic approximation of the French word "image" with a completely inappropriate accent on the last "e." No one has the heart to embarrass them by pointing out these errors, but it comes across that they might not have the upscale skills they claim. I suppose that hurts business.

I don't find that the glowing "E" distracts. I think it adds a nice bit of texture; I also note that it shares the curve of the model's head. I see what mbennett2 is saying about the model being in limbo. I didn't have that reaction, though, and I suppose you want to show her whole head, since a lot of the haircut's style is in the back. There is something a little afterthought-ish about her placement, though. Perhaps it's that vast expanse of neutral between the black of the logo and the black in the photo of the model that bothers me. All that text is what you really want people to read, yet it's so faded. You might want to rethink that.

Good luck! I've never yet been able to get a hair stylist to do anything the way I want! :-)

I didn't get a Hair stylist vibe from this piece at all. Feels more like a Holistic medicine place or New Age trinket shop.

Text - Less; or at least prioritized better. the OFFER should be LARGER 25% OFF should jump out at you to grab your attention. And the phone number should Stand out more, people tend to call before going someplace.

Back to the Hair Stylist Vibe, it needs something that Flows like hair, a design in the background or a border or something. I agree that the font choice wasn't good but I also know how picky clients can be. That being said don't be afraid to suggest something to a client. Let them know that a piece needs to SAY something to people or even SCREAM it; trust me they will get a better response, as this is now Not very many people would even read it.

We have to face the fact that you get roughly 3 - 7 seconds to sell something with a Poster, Postcard, Letter etc... And if in that time you don't convey at least one enticing part of your message then your client won't get the response.
