Dragon Boat 2
GregSauce (110 pencils) | Tue, 2009-05-12 13:35I'm working on the logos on the left right now.
Trying to incorporate the corporate logo while keeping a paddle-ish theme.
I apparantly SUCK at drawing dragon tails. haha. any comments would be much appreciated!

I actually think there is some potential on the logos to the right

I like where design 04 is going -- the dragon is cute enough that I would wear it on a t-shirt. :) The type needs a little work, though.
"Right click" means nothing to Mac users. Well, it does, nd usually I can make it work, but this time, I can't. From what I can see of #4, I agree with Stephanie. (Huge surprise!) The dragon is very cute. #5 appears to be the same thing, but with the paddle logo slapped on. That's too after-thoughty. If you needed to do that, I'd make it about twice as large, and warp it a little bit to make it appear to be a dragon tat. I would open the space between the dragon and the N, which you oculd warp a bit as it the dragon's tummy has intruded on it. Again, from what little I can see of that side of the design without being able to use my usual right-click-a-la-Mac tricks, it seems you're going for a slightly funked-up look for that one word, which indeed has possibilities, if you don't go too far. I really love the dragon's head and the poufter flame.
Let us know what the team choses, won't you?

I too prefer #4. Well done.
LOVED your Clockwork rendition. Clockwork Orange was actually part of our Art History curriculum in college...that and Godzilla vs Bambi!

I agree that #4 is killer the only thing I would try having all the words touch the dragon or none of them touching the dragon. I love the dragon it's both cute and tough.

The team has put their votes in..
Here's the final design. I like it, casual and fun..
I still don't like the team name "Newbies"
I guess it gives us an excuse when we miserably lose the races!!

Yay! I approve! Is it too late to suggest something? It looks like there's a tiny dent in the dragon's chest on the right edge, to the left of the D in dragon. Also, could you maybe nudge all the words a little bit more to the right? They're just a little too tight against the dragon. Makes me itch.
So congrats on seeing this one through major changes to a real winner, in more ways than one. Good luck in the races :-)

Thanks Mara!

Love it! I agree about the dent that Mara pointed out, probably an anchor point that was never smoothed out when using the pen tool.
Great work. :D
I really like design number 4 -- the dragon is so cute and I love the way you arranged all the letters. What font did you use? How much leading? I also like design 5, except I can't quite make out what appears on the dragon's stomach: is it some sort of line of honeywell filters? I know it's the logo but I'm just trying to be an uniformed observer here.
