Drop caps in InDesign CS3

I am going to attach two screen shots. Both of these paragraphs are using the EXACT same body style, yet they appear differently. I want my drop cap to only merge into two lines, and not ghost behind the third line of text. Any ideas? The styles seem to be the same for both, yet why are they appearing differently?

It's hard to tell at this
It's hard to tell at this end, Shanda, but it seems to me that the point size of 33 is larger than the 34. Could that be?
I've often heard that InDesign doesn't render drop caps as effortlessly as Quark does. Maybe you've just hit a glitch.

ps: should it be "adapted FROM"? Hard to tell without seeing the whole sentence, but that caught my eye...
Point size
It does look as thought the point size is larger, however, when using a drop cap, you only assign then a number of lines you want it to descend, which I did. They have the same properties.

That's really weird! Well,
That's really weird! Well, you've tapped out my meager knowledge base on this one! ;-) Good luck! (If all else fails, I guess you could tuck the drop cap in as an inline graphic and wrap the paragraph around it.)

Just
a question.
Did you apply a characterstyle to your Drop caps?
Cause that may cause the situation
Yes, I did
but they are the same character style. I had to apply a character style because I need them a different typeface and color. Any thoughts?

i think it's your font
Does this font have those funky lowercase/uppercase numerals? That might be the problem.
I just switched it to Helvetica
I just switched it to Helvetica and I am having the same problem
Might sound silly but can
Might sound silly but can you copy the drop cap you want over the one you don't and edit it to read 34?

Not silly, I tried that..
and it didn't work

Obviously something's wrong
Obviously something's wrong with how the style's being applied in the second instance. Have you tried reverting to no style on that paragraph and then reapplying the style to see if will work correctly?
