Easy way to create ringtones

Any suggestions for a free solution?

Unprotected files can be converted to the right format (be sure to make the ringtone shorter than 30 seconds), rename the file and add it to your iTunes again.

i'm using audacity to cut the 30 second part out of the song and save it for ringtone :)
