Eightcom logo
Alexander (74 points) | Tue, 2005-04-19 14:07This was a logo i made for Eight Communication, think, a client of mine. They wanted a clean, serious, strong logo. The color for the symbol was their own idea.
They are really into a lot of computer-related stuff. So i couldn't really make a specfic symbol. Therefore i decided to make a symbol that related more to the brand, to make it stronger.

Very memorable and it has a visual pun. I think the logo delivers on the brief. Good job.
I'm not sure about the typo. Maybe someone else can suggest something about that.
is anybody else getting a leaf from the eight? Other wise it guestalts well.
I must disagree. It did not come across to me as a leaf but at the same time it did not grab me as an 8 but I think it would have hit me after a few glances. Overall I like the use of color and its very contemporary so I like it :)
I think that the logo is strong, but it is definately coming off as a leaf. Not only that, but that is getting to be a popular, trendy shape. There are at least 2 stores I know of in Philly that have identical leaf-shaped logos. I like the idea of juxtaposing computers with nature, but maybe if you pushed the idea further, or made the 8 more clear. Right now you're in limbo between the two.
I'm from Philly, what stores are you referring to? I'm curious.

I would align the symbol with the EIGHT type and have the smaller type run underneath. To make it more balanced...
I know, i made a version just like that for them as well for them, but they chose this as their primary logo.
I didn't see an 8 or a leaf. I see a mouse (the kind attached to your computer). Overall, very nice!!
Does anyone see it as a W-eight - or is that just a 'me' thing? I reckon if you lighten the type up, thin or extra thin then the logo will stand up on it's own. the only problem with that tho, is reproduction at small sizes...? The style clean look works well tho
How about flipping the logo horizontally to take the eye away from the 'w' sweep at the baseline?
I saw the leaf aat first sight too. And it looks familiar, I just can't put my hands on it. Seen that "leaf" somewhere before...

maybe i am wrong, but i would make the symbol as thick as the typeface is.
