Hi everybody, a long time again since my last submission to the critique section. Anyway, this is a branding project I did for a starting business here in my city. eme is a communication consultant company who can manage a lot of different projects about marketing, branding, political campaings and a lot more.

The client was the owner of the company of course. I know how much it looks like the cingular logo but believe me, she was really married with the whole idea. In the attachments are previous versions.

Ok, fire up!

very nice, however

GREAT execution, looks REALLY nice, however that's the EXACT logo from cingular, in green and on a slight angle.

I like it except for the reflections on the logo.

Other than that it's really nice and distinctive.

Good to see you've thought through the colours and brand guidelines too.

I agree with both of you

It looks nearly identical to Cingular, and the reflections look "forced" rather than a nice subtle reflection like Cingular's work.

The layout is nice, but I feel like it's just too close.

unfortunately...

unfortunately it's FAR to close. it's the only thing i think of when i look at it. and i know there's ALOT of cingular users out there who would think the exact same thing.

the only thing this has going for you is that it doesn't look like it's in the US.

again, the rest looks very nicely put together.

I know, I know

It looks like the cingular logo, A LOT. But the client just want to stick to that, believe me. He has vear stubborn to decide, I think she see the cingular logo once in her lifetime and she fell in love with it.

About the layout, It was too much information and that was the format they will use, so, you know when you are between what YOU think it should be and in the other side it's what the PERSON WHO WILL PAY YOU wants.

Hi, You keep saying that the

Hi, You keep saying that the client just wanted to stick to this logo, even though it looks like the cingular logo, well really you should have not designed a logo that looks like another one to begin with.

I would try to cover your butt and get the client to sign something saying that he or she takes full responsibility for the use of the logo. Also does your client know that it looks like the cingular logo?

plugz's picture

See I didn't thing of Cingular at all...

But then I dont' live in the US so it's not an issue to me.

not exactly like cingular, that will be fine.

"what YOU think it should be and in the other side it's what the PERSON WHO WILL PAY YOU wants." this is the way of many designer will do all the time i think, sometime you got a good client, sometime you got a stupid client, what do we do ? Control the client as good as possible. So the logo seem look like Cingular but there is fine because client not do the bussiness like Cingular, and different idea on it......

It's not cingular...

It looks like Microsoft Excel's logo ( http://www.guidebookgallery.org/pics/splashes/excel/vx-mac.png ) and the Cingular logo fell in love, got married, and had a little baby logo..
