Emerge Logo

This is a logo I came up with for a young adults group. Mostly wondering if the circle design looks familiar to anyone.

Young Adults Group? What do they do? I think there's too much going on here and the colour combination is too abrupt. Either the logo needs to be simplified or combined into a combination mark, or the typography needs to be a bit less of an attention grabber so that the mark can flourish. I really think they're competing too much.

The circle design does look familiar to me but I cannot place it. It seems like it would be some kind of telecommunications company.
I think we could help you more if we knew more about the group this logo is for.

Does "boomerang" has a place in the young adults group? Green color looks pretty bright; could look different when printed on paper, though.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. It's a church group of young adults who hang out to connect and build friendships, but we're branding it to promote in our community. The name symbolizes emerging into adulthood. In many instances the circle and the text will be separated (especially if the symbol gains traction in our area). We landed on a darker red for the circle, although I suspect we will use different color schemes (I'm more concerned with keeping the shape consistent).

Not getting that at all. I thought maybe some kind of tech support group or something.

I'd ditch thinking about colour too heavily at this point and time. You start to pigeon-toe yourself into designing for a colour or another goal that doesn't overly matter by contrast of the response you gave, which focuses on those who attend and what it helps them do. Besides, you may see a final logo once you're done and decide that colour is no longer appropriate.

Work in black, work out a mind map and even go and meet with some of those in the group, what do they like? What do they want to see from the group they're in? You can try and tease out some common things that bring them all together and represent others and motivate them to join. You have a good potential for something organic and growing here with a name like emerge, just make sure it doesn't look like it's too heavily plant based, might think it's a different purpose then.

+1 to tech company logo- part to the typography there.

yeah. sorry, but neither the icon nor the type treatment conveys feelings about church, friendships, community, or young adult to me... looks like some kind of bio-tech company : (

Never said it was appropriate for its purpose :)
