As Ivan quoted, this only stops OSX from creating .DS_Store files on Windows-based servers, not the local volume and other Macs.

As they store info about window states. So unless you like changing the window state every time you make a new finder window.
Makes sense for servers. I hate opening the shared windows drive and some nut has set the view to list and drilled down 20 bazillion folders so it take 10 minutes to display it. grrrr
i dunno ... after all it did NOT work for me ... i'm still leaving those .DS_Store in every folder i visit on networked PCs ...
