Here at CreativeBits, we tend to eliminate design backgrounds from consideration of a logo, preferably without a tag line. While I like the overall look of this with the background, I'm going to comment only on the orange mark, which I really love. I think it's just fine that you chose to use a traditional serif typeface with it. It's a nice combination of reliable and progressive.
Hey I agree. Really like the mark. Only thing making me a little uncomfortable are the white lines(?)/waves within the orange box. They seem to be too similar or something is a litte off. Is there any way to make them more complementary rather than similar. Not sure if im putting this the right way.
