Best episode of Father Ted ever.
Nobody knows what I'm talking about I'm sure.
We don't have that in America, but I imagine it's something like a cross between the Olympics and American Idol.
i watched it last year. it's fun for the diversity, but sad for the quality, but hey what do you expect. these are just beginners. i wish it wasn't so pop though.

I think more wars should be solved through the medium of eurotrash pop. I know it always makes for fascinating viewing. The accepted wisdom is that moral enemies always give each other 12 points out of politeness and the biggest mullet always wins.
A previous Eurovision launched Michael Flatley upon the world and for that I can't grovel enough

Em...Father Ted....sitcom revolving around three Irish priests on an island
My Lovely Horse..The incredibly crap song they entered in the Eurovision during one epsiode
Eurovision...An amazingly tacky song contest staged every year which pits each european country against each other in a quest for tackiness. It's not strictly European since an Israeli transvestive called Dana International won one year and Russia enters in teenage lipstick lesbian acts tatu

However, I would not mind meeting this group.
Ok, makes more sense now! i've actually heard of one group listed - tatu - who, I would assume got media attention here in the states mainly because of the whole lesbian thing being part of their act. Of course they only had about 5 minutes of fame here and appeared on the American MTV music awards a while back.
Wow, I just went to the Eurovision website. I am shocked that Eurovision was developed in 1956 and I've never heard of it. It gets absolutely NO media attention here in the U.S. - although we have seen hits from a couple of Eurovision winners that I found on the website. Tatu, as I mentioned earlier, and Secret Garden. Neither of which I really care for.
Also, since different countries are competing, how does language play a part in the cometition? Are most songs in English? I would think it would be really difficult to judge a song if you can't understand what the person is saying.
It's all so foreign! :)
who needs lyrics? it's all the same 50 words in POP, but in a different combination. actually some of them sing in their own language, which is actually cool, because you are not disappointed by the stupid lyrics. your imagination always makes it much better. :)
it used to be so the each country sang in their own language, but recently most everyone uses english. that does not mean that they know english. for example, last years winner, ruslana, sang her song in english and didn't even know what the words meant. :)
Remember.. Sweden doesn't vote on themself
okey... time for honesty.
here is the icelandic song and video.
