Logo for a branch of Evans Technologies Group, which provides web hosting, design services, etc.
Client is an Egyptology buff and wanted me to incorporate Egyptian images, pyramids, heiroglyphs into the logo. I searched for images online, made several sketches, and came up with this. I know at first glance this doesn't seem like it was inspired by anything "Egypt", but after looking at hundreds of pyramids and 'glyphs and studying the letterforms in Evans, it seemed to fall into place.
My concerns are that the logo still seems basic and uninspired, but I couldn't bring myself to use a sphynx or some of the other suggestions the client gave me. He is pretty open, but I don't want to alienate him completely either.

all kidding aside. they are all pretty 1980's looking. the bottom is the best of the three. but none of them say egypt much to me at all... except i can kind of see feathers/wings in the bottom one
you need to talk to your client and explain that just because somebody likes puppies, its no reason to work them into his law practice logo.

LOL is that what it is? In my defense, I was 6 years old in 82. I think I will try to play with the bottom one more... and give another "un-egypt" idea.

I like the look - although it's not Egyptian imho and I read "EVANE" on all of them.

i read it as EWING at first glance myself.
its becoming clear that part of the problem is that there is just too much ambiguity in the letterforms...
i saw evane, too.
it says "sci-fi markings on the side of a shuttlecraft" more than "egypt" to me. i think you're going the wrong direction if you want egyptology to come through.
What a coincidence you should mention sci fi markings, it looks like a knockoff of this:

Yeah, definitely a good catch on the EVE Online... I looked through a few sites like Brands of the World to make sure it hasn't already been done. That's why I love this site! I never would have looked at a gaming site logo.
