I got that email too. My thoughts were the same as yours. Not in the market for pay fonts right now but those are nice. I like the top one.

It's a good site if you reeeaally like type. The forums are for the sort of people who discuss radii of curves on the inside of serifs and such. It's a good resource for typographers, but for the average person, it's all typographical gobbledygook.
