If you're putting this in your portfolio, might I ask what you do for a living? Illustration? I ask because unless this is a hand-drawn illustration, it really shows me nothing.

And even still, the illustration isn't that good.
Being more of a digital art piece rather than a marketing piece, improvements are a little more opinionated. I would say that it's a good start, but overall it looks a little too busy. I like the "green" side of the face, and how shapes are more defined and simple on that side. I would try to make the "magenta" side of the face match that. Keep consistency but allow contrast.
I think one thing that you should have written in the description is what emotion you wanted to evoke with this image, what point were you trying to make. When I'm doing digital art, I usually try to come up with some sort of back-story for my images. Does that sound weird? It usually makes my outcome more unique and more meaningful. It's an idea, anyway.
I think blocking colours out more could help. It's very abstract, which can be a good thing, but maybe take it back a step and start a little more simple. One thing I've noticed with vexels, is that the layers usually have a slight color change, creating a gradient effect. With the "magenta" side, they are very contrasted, and I thnk that's what makes it a little too busy.
