Fatal Impact
Eivind Johansen (6 pencils) | Mon, 2005-10-17 20:52This is my logo proposal for a local hard rock-/metal-band in Gjøvik, Norway. The design is an ambigram which is identical turned upside down or as you see it. I am aware of a certein legibility problem but are set on continuing with the idea.
Update: I have now tried to fix the p/r-problem. I do think this way of doing it breaks the second "a" a little, but it isn't fatal ;)

Ambigram, eh?
Not the easiest thing to create.
Even tougher to make them easily legible from both directions.
I suppose, legibility aside, it's kinda cool. I dunno, doesn't really scream "fatal impact" to me, maybe I'd have to see it on a CD cover with flames or something. It's hard to critique, as any changes would risk breaking the ambigram.
I like the concept, and I'd guess that with a little more work, it could get easier to read.
You may have seen these already, but here are some ambigram sites that I have bookmarked. Might have some tricks in there to help you out.

If somebody knows what yours says beforehand, it's perfectly legible - maybe the trick is to have a subliminal roman font hidden in there somewhere! ;)

Reading 'fatalimract' it is, now. R instead of P. Good way to solve it is to loose the upper half of the second 'a' and then make a new 'a' character from the lower part of the 't'. I'm not sure if it's gonna work or not, but theoretically it should :)
I think it's gorgeous and clever..
You obviously spent a lot of time making this. I'll also say that the fact that it might be hard to read at first glance could be a positive thing. It Involves people with the logo and make it more interesting for them. (kinda like a quiz)
That's my opinion!
Supert! ;)
