Files won't delete (Removing CS2)

I'm having a minor problem that's driving me crazy. I had the change to bring home a cope of CS3 from work and install it on my home machine. Before installing CS3 I thought that I would remove CS2 from the machine. I uninstalled the few items that had their own uninstaller (VersionCue and Acrobat) ... with the rest of the CS2 software I simply dragged it to the trash can and deleted it.

It appeared that everything had been deleted without a problem, but on a second glance there are two sets of files that will not delete:

CS problem

It's that crazy looking HTML file. There are actually two of them, one in each folder structure.

If I empty the trash can, it goes through the normal procedure. It makes the emptying sound and everything, but the files never disappear.

I have tried to restart several times and nothing has changed, I'm also looked if any Adobe related programs are running in the background, and they are not.

If I do a "Get Info" on these two HTML files (Tieng Viet.html) it shows them to be owned by the "system" ... if I try to change it to my account I get an unexpected error message (error code 213).

Anyone have any idea how I can remove these two files. I think there is a possibility that some Adobe stuff might be running on the background. When I checked Activity Monitor it appeared there was nothing. So either it's a discretely labelled item, or that isn't the problem.

i have cs2, and i just checked in my corresponding folder, and found that it is also owned by the system. I changed it to being owned by me [click the lock, select the username, then put in your password] and it changed fine.

did you follow the instructions in the "how to uninstall" pdf? it's in the adobe creative suite 2 folder -> uninstallers.

here are the instructions from that pdf:

To uninstall Adobe Creative Suite in Mac OS
1 -- Double-click Activity Monitor.app in Applications/Utilities, select AHCRemind, and click Quit Process.
2 -- If you intend to install the product on a different computer, transfer the activation. (See “To transfer the
product activation” on page1.)
3 -- If you want to uninstall Adobe Acrobat, double-click the uninstaller in Applications/Adobe Acrobat 7.0
Professional, and follow the on-screen instructions.
4 -- If you want to uninstall Version Cue 2, double-click the uninstaller in Applications/Adobe VersionCue CS2,
and follow the on-screen instructions.
Note: If the Version Cue uninstaller fails, see the alternative procecure, “To remove Version Cue manually”
on page4.
5 -- From the Applications folder, drag the following items, if present, to the trash:
Note: After you drag the items to the trash in steps 5-8, you must empty the trash before you can reinstall
Adobe Creative Suite 2 on the same computer.
•Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional
•Adobe VersionCue CS2
•Adobe Bridge
•Adobe GoLive CS2
•Adobe Illustrator CS2
•Adobe InDesign CS2
•Adobe Photoshop CS2
•AdobeHelpCenter.app
6 -- From the Utilities folder, drag the following items, if present, to the trash:
•Adobe Utilities
•Adobe Updater.app
7 -- From the Library folder, drag the following items, if present, to the trash:
•Application Support/Adobe/AdobeHelpData

Here's a simple way of fixing permissions on files that you REALLY need to delete and need to change the permissions so that you own it rather than the system:

X-Ray

NOTE: Deleting files that are OBVIOUSLY owned by the system FOR the system will frak up your machine.. . just thought u'd know. :)

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I found the solution to this problem.

This is an Apple bug that is present in CS2. The two files are Vietnamese and OS-X creates some type of conflict and considers them possibly dangerous. You can search for "Vietnam" on the Adobe forums to read about it.

To remove them you need to boot into safe mode. By holding shift after the chimes as your computer is starting up.
