Font choice / is it ok to use your logo font as sub heading font as well

I was once told by someone that it is bad to use your logo font again in any promotional material i.e things like sub heading etc.... so I never really did but now I am finding that most people disagree.

So please let me know your thoughts is it ok to use your logo font for headings as well in promotional material such as magazine articles, brochures, postcards etc....

Look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Your logo font should be unique, in my view. Pick a complementary font for the body copy. Sometimes the font that's good for a logo really sucks as a text font, and vice-a-versa.

As long as your logo's font is legible (ie not FirstGrade) then why not use it for heads and subheads for your self-promo work? However, at the end of the day, it's you who will have to step back and eyeball your promotional piece to see if it works for your target audience.

It dilutes your logotype to the point where it's no longer meaningful to use it as headline text.

I tend to find that it's entirely up to the designer/end user what font works.

I once did a newsletter for a client whose logo's typeface was Folio Bold. I used that same font for its headlines. It worked well, and the client was happy with the end product. However, that being said, that may very well be the only time that I ever purposely used the logo font for text within a marketing piece.

I am never a fan of hard and fast rules. I think there are exceptions to any rule.

I do however agree with the concept that it might dilute your logo I think if you do use it in heads/subheads to treat it differently than how it is n your logo. Perhaps a different weight, spacing, size or color would keep everything unified while not detracting from your logo.
