Font problem with Illustrator CS2
YamiTetsuya (5 pencils) | Mon, 2009-07-13 16:54Hi, I recently installed Adobe Illsutrator CS2 on a different PC (it has Windows XP). The Illustrator CS2 doesn't show the fonts in the character window. I tried pasting the system fonts in the illustrator font folder and still doesn't work. How can I correct this? I had the same problem at home but I remember I installed some symbols and brushes and it got corrected but it was long ago and I don't remember what I did back then. Is there a way to relink the fonts from Illsutrator or something? I guess that the fonts may be linked incorrectly or something (which would explain why when I added those other things it started reading them correctly).

It depends on the fonts you're trying to use and where you're putting them.
1. Mac fonts won't work on PC unless you convert them
2. Put all fonts on a PC into the Fonts folder, not the application's font folder
Which fonts are you trying to use and where did you get them from?

Note *entirely* true (Mac fonts on PC). Opentype Fonts will run on a Mac or PC with no conversion, as will many TrueType fonts. The only ones that absolutely require conversion are Postscript fonts.

I tried suitcase but found it a bit buggy. I don't know if there is a mac version, but I rcommend printers apprentice.

Use the free Linotype FontExplorer. It even cleans your systems font folder for best performance.
Clicking the link will start the download of the free version of FontExplorer. Works a treat and I've used it for the past 5 years.
