Font query
btetzl50 (57 points) | Sun, 2007-08-05 01:31I'm looking to find the font (or a close match) used for Airguide shown in the image. I've looked across the interwebs and found nothing similar. Any ideas?

Try Identifont. My guess is that it was a custom type job, so it may not have a digital version (or at least, not an exact one).

you can upload images there to try and help find the font... REALLY neat tool that has come in handy all too many times.. best of luck

It appears you posted a 30-40 year old vintage picture of an Airguide marine compass. [From my quick research those gauges appear to have been made in the 1960s & 70s] I'm with 'tlarson2k' on this one... it's a custom lettering job. [They had very few fonts back in that era and I found 3-4 different variations of the Airguide logotype with different 'A', 'd' and 'e' letters]

I also used 'What the Font' on the 'A' and it didn't come up with anything remotely close. I also went to Veer and searched 50's style fonts along with T-26 script and historical and again nothing.
My best advice is to post the image on the 'font forum' at myfonts.com. If they guru's that patrol the site can't identify it, no one can.
Thanks all!!
Next time I'll be a clearer... I spent a good chunk of my day yesterday doing most of what was suggested, the myfonts "what the font", google/ebay, and i did notice their own logo morphed a bit. (this is still my favorite)
Thanks Again!
I think it's a 1940s style, actually. The most unique aspect to search for (after 1940s upright and script) is the left-to-right swoosh cross on the A. I did several searches in all the usual places and couldn't come up with anything closer than Streamline and other similar fonts. I'd love to know what you come up with. Good luck!
