The message is good and the idea of the ladder is on track but the cold and eerie background in combination with the black silhouette has a stricking association to Halloween. Hopefully this isn't some tribute to witches. ;)
You would be referring to the double border choking off the content within. :)
The entire ladder should be the one word Teacher so it makes sense. Having it be built of hundreds of 'Teachers' blurs the message.
Pick a different font for the main message on the right; preferrably a sans serif. Don't ever use Times for your display font unless you really want to drag fingernails on the proverbial chalkboard, design-wise. :)

I agree with all the above!
The type doesn't make sense at all; the placement, the font, the kerning! And as Mara pointed out; it should be OURS and you definitely don't need the ellipsis mark. It also looks to me that the ladder will fall over, since it is not touching anything. I would maybe try to 'lean it' against the moon or a tree top.
Other than that, I think the image is pretty cool, but again, it's hard to know what it is really for. Would love to hear some more about the project!
I agree with the comments above, but my main comment is that you need to give us a concept. Sure we can say the design lacks visual appeal, but how can anyone correctly comment without a concept?!

"For teachers" is vague. Can you describe what you are trying to accomplish? In what medium? What's the actual project?
The word at the end of your copy should be OURS (plural possessive), by the way. Also, there is no need for the ellipsis mark (...).

I like the post production on the image. Don't know how well it fits in this design though.
Friends don't let friends design w/o kerning...
Font looks very power pointinsh? (not the font family, the program)
