Fourth Mac OS X browser test
In our last test, we tested the four major browsers on Mac OS X (Safari, FireFox, Camino, and OmniWeb). Since then, there have been several improvements on almost all of the browsers, so we decided to test again.
All four of the browsers are Universal Binaries — good news for owners of Intel-based Macs. We tested the latest versions of the browsers as of this writing — Safari/Webkit 2.0.4 (the version that comes with OS X 10.4.7), FireFox 1.5.0.4, Camino 1.0.2, and OmniWeb 5.5 Beta (which can be downloaded from the Omni Forums.
We tested browser speed (page loading, image loading, JavaScript performance), RAM usage, special features, and standards compliance, among others. Read the whole thing here.

No it isn't...orange doesn't
No it isn't...orange doesn't belong to CB does it?
And the background is still dark blue. The only thing I changed recently is the link color, so it would stand out more from the white text.

I hate to say it Mackie, but your site has no blue to speak of as far as the design. All I see is dark gray and orange... just like here at CB (not that I think you copied it).
I really like the new(ish) design. I noticed the change a short while ago and I feel more "comfortable" surfing through your site now.

Well actually it's not really blue, it's #25282D, definitely not gray. I would never copy anyone's design -- and the fonts are different, the layout is different, etc.
The orange color which I added recently is #FF6600, unlike Creativebits' which is #CC6600. I'll look into changing it, though, it you guys think it looks too similar.

Don't change it. It looks freakin great!
I was simply pointing out that on the three computers I looked at it on, the background appears gray (though not the exact same gray as here), and the type is in fact orange. I just wanted to point it out because it's possible that your monitor isn't calibrated so you're seeing something different than everyone else.

Thanks, but my monitor most certainly is calibrated.
The background is 37 R, 40 G, and 45 B, so it's pretty close to gray, but leans toward blue. I hope you see it, it's not meant to be full gray. :)
Off-gray
It's definitely a gray on my monitor, with a hint of blue. Very soothing. It appears the style sheet isn't loading on your front page right now though, leaving a different quite blue color in the background instead.
Interesting
I find it surprising that OmniWeb performed so much better in HTML document loading, especially since it uses WebCore. Every time I've tried OmniWeb it's been much slower *overall* than Safari.
And why no Opera??

Interesting rendering speeds, but a web browser isn't worth $29.95 for my needs..
JPEG and Java loading are almost the same, is HTML loading really that vital?

Wow, I just made the switch
Wow, I just made the switch to Firefox from Safari a few months ago. And now I'm wondering if I should go back, since according to your tests it's faster. Still... I quite like having plugins and extensions in Firefox. As for OmniWeb, I'm still not sure I can justify paying for a web browser.

Firefox has one problem...
The memory leak. The longer you use it, the slower it gets. Leave it open all day and it brings the thing down to a crawl - almost to the point where it takes too long to quit normally and you just end up force quitting.
I loved the extensions for Firefox too. But I decided to give Safari another try - adding a few little add-ons like Saft and SafariExtender. Come to find out, I really don't miss all those extensions and the page loads (and especially launch time) are MUCH faster.
