freehand to illustrator

so it looks like freehand isn't going to move any further than 11.0.2.

in which case i'm attempting to defect to illustrator after 10 years with freehand. things are going a little slowly in parts but generally fine, with the illustrator manual helping.

while most stuff can be found with the manuals provided by adobe, i was wondering if anybody knows any particularly good resources that could help speed up the transition?

I began using Freehand v1.0 (way back in the day) at a little outfit known as USA Today (a U.S. National newspaper for those who may not know) and have been using it since. Sad, to see it go, primarily because I've resisted Illustrator all these years and now have to learn it.

Try the online tutorials over at http://Lynda.com. I used them to learn Dreamweaver, Motion, and a few others.

Good stuff.

I really like the Visual Quick Start Series by Peachpit Press. They're pretty cheap and make great reference book to keep at your desk.

Hope this helps.

I made the trasition aobut a year ago, and I think you will be happier once you get to know illustrator. I have been trying to learn a lot more about Illustrator and use it more lately and I find it to be a pretty sweet program. Leaps and bounds better than Freehand IMO. I bought the Adobe classroom in a book. Don't have much else to compare it to, but I like it. It seems to cover just about everything in pretty good details. I like learning a new program from a book rather than online resources because they have more of a system to them and you do not have to hunt for all the different topics. More complete and centralized I suppose. I also take any chance I can get to give my eyes a break from the monitor.

Not sure why I threw that last part in there, but now you know!
