Future Kustom Cards
futuresign (71 pencils) | Tue, 2009-10-20 21:42These are the cards for our custom paint shop and vehicle wrapping division of our sign shop.
The back of these cards has the Future Sign info on them, as I posted earlier.

Words cannot describe how distasteful I find this card - BUT - as you stated in the other "Future Kustoms" thread, the motorcycle, car, airbrush, tattoo crowd would probably love this. So if it works on that level - who am I to say it needs work?
Also have to mention that (for some unknown reason) the name "Future Kustoms" makes me giddy.
+1
The goal of a card is to bring in business and hey, if business has increased since making this card, all the power to you man.
Some people are in it for the love, some for the money.

I know it may seem busy, but I design not just for me, but for my clients as well.
But you are the designer. You need to advise the client, be their consultant. It isn't always easy, sometimes it's impossible.

...and for the people receiving the card, surely?
nothing special, one more Coreldraw level boring cards.
yes I'm brazilian xD
Gah!!! Too many typefaces!!! Simplify, man!
BTW, love the type for "imagine it" and "create it".
This does not go at all with the other side of the card.
that font is called ' Bleeding Cowboys' its available for free from all the usual places.
welcome.
16 billion colours and you choose the one i cant create !??!
thanks! Should've guessed it was from a free site. ;)
yeah, cause I'm an idiot who can only afford free fonts....
what an ass.
Of all the comments you've had on your work here, I've tried to be diplomatic. You've had much worse said to you and you call me an ass?
Look, you've freely admitted that you have an extensive clip art collection that you have no qualms about using because you "don't have the time" to come up with stuff on your own, so why would I think you'd take the time to buy, download, and use a solidly designed typeface?!
Look, I have tried to be diplomatic as well...
But most of you on this site have nothing better to say then make little snide comments.
That comment made you sound like an ass, so I called you on it.
From the sounds of it, you all think of yourselves as Fine Artists. I am a Graphic Designer. Do you know what the difference is? A Graphic designer is paid for the work he does, and it is done for his clients... and artist starves.
I do not think I am better than any of you, but apparently you think you are better than me. So to that, I say adios, farewell and have a nice time "critiquing" others who come looking for honest opinions and suggestions.
He makes a valid point about you saying you don't have time to create artwork but having time to search for and use paid for fonts.
Being a Graphic Designer isn't only about technical skill. If it were, you'd have gotten far worse responses about your "work" than what was said, from me at least. Being a good Graphic Designer is also about being able to take criticism. Sure, there were snide remarks, but I won't even lie to you: Your work is not even up to par with student level work. It's basically a random collection of thrown together fonts and clip art.
How dare you imply that we aren't doing this for money. For some of us this is all we do for money, we spent 4, 6, 8 years studying Art eating Ramen noodles 6 nights a week and working two jobs to get through school. You seem to think you're better than us because you have 20+ years experience in design, but what you do isn't even design. There's an elderly lady at work who creates company newsletters and themed emails for functions that could teach you a thing or two about design and she isn't even a designer.
I don't even consider you a Graphic Artist, at least they create their own artwork.
P.S. I consider myself an artist and if I wanted to, I could take the next 6 months off with no pay and still live VERY comfortably. Sorry to burst your little bubble about starving artists.

sorry that i'll have to join the chorus here and say it's just too busy for me. even moreso when you shrink it down to 3.5x2 on a business card. you don't need to show every single thing that you can put a wrap on on your business card. save that for the postcard/brochure/flyer.
i would also suggest not tracking out all of your text like that. loose tracking should be used sparingly for a purpose. there's a reason the font designer created their font with that letterspacing to begin with.
graphic artists/designers jobs are to help their customers communicate. art is only a portion of that.
