Getting closer, I think.
steverin0 (29 pencils) | Fri, 2006-04-14 03:21Getting closer to nailing down a logo design (my previous attemps are here and here).
Here, I have used a more square and extended font, in order to eliminate the appearance of an eye. The logotype is Emigre Matrix, which I think goes nicely with the logo shape itself. I am leaning toward the reversed version on the left, but am interested in what you all think.
Thanks to all who have commented in the past on my stuff, you have helped me tremendously. I look forward to your constructive critisism on this design.

The one on the left is looking fantastic. Great dimensionality to it. I am not too fond of the type, but the icon is great.
My only question is what to you really what to say with your logo? The job of the designer is the same as the job of the fine-artist. It is not only about how "cool" it looks, it is about what the logo says about your design work. Because right now it looks like you are just trying to find a cool way to put a couple of D's together, and in all honesty, there is really nothing creative about just trying to make the intials of your company look cool.
Sure it is acceptable if you were a lawyer, but you are not. You're job is too capture the imagination and eye of the viewer, and unfortunately it just seems like these might get lost in the jungle.
I hope this helps in anyway possible. I really do like the logo on the left. But I guess ultimately I would like to know why it looks like it does.

I really like the logo symbol. The choice of font for the logotype is good I think. Fits to the logo symbol. But, the positioning is a bit boring I feel. Please work on it some more.
I like the one on the left better than the right, however, they both remind me of Celtic designs.
From your profile I see that your interests include jazz and antiques. Have you looked at type treatments from old jazz albums or antique advertisements? I'm not saying that represents you either but it might be a jumping point for something that really represents you.
I've looked through all of your attempts and I'm wondering if you are seeing "you" in these logos.

I personally find nothing original in this logo.
