gMail show only new messages?

Is there a way to show only new messages somehow in gMail. Through a setting, a filter or any other way?

There are a few features like this that seem to be missing at the moment.

Personally I would like to forward the emails that get through the spam filter to my work account. I would also like to be able to view emails by From

I guess this is just all part of using beta software, I have put in a request for email forwarding, maybe you should do the same for unread only filtering?

You can easily display only your unread mail. To do it, just enter "is:unread" in the search box. (without the quotes)
