Going Green

The client who commissioned this work is a small startup that deals mainly with recycling and also manages waste/garbage disposal for a few buildings....
After almost 2 months this is what was settled on .... what do you think?

seems today is "kerning day"
G O ING and the tagline both need some kerning h e lp

Like wgzn said, definite kerning issues that must be fixed.

I wonder if a better solution could be found instead of that vertical divider between the words "RECYCLING" and "FACILITIES". You obviously don't want it standing out too much, but right now it's almost blending in with the text too well, as if it might be the letter "i".

And it might just be personal preference, but...a different width for each line just feels a little strange. Maybe the bottom two lines could be resized to fit with the top? So it would all fit perfectly within a rectangle. (Just make the proportions of the letters are kept the same.) This is just something I might try, and is by no means any sort of absolute. ;-)

I agree about the divider, I don't feel it needs to be in there at all. If someone wants to read it as recycling facilities then that isn't the end of the world, if not a comma would do fine. Aside from what's been mentioned about the kerning and spacing I'll ramble on about colour further. Why not have the bottom line in the dark forest green as your "going"? You could go the full 20 yards and make the entire logo 1 colour, the concept doesn't support the need to use multiple colours and the "going green" wordplay would actually be more true if less ink needed to be used in the production process. I also feel you don't need the tunnel of arrows in the counter of your 'o'. The initial first set of arrows on the outside could be bolder to go with the font weight and I think support the concept fine.

+1 on most of that. Think you need to go up at least one weight on the "GOING" too. The "O" with the arrows would probably work fine with only two (also heavier weighted) levels - which would apply to actual recycling (1 product used then 1 product recycled = 2 circles). Three circles tops. Four makes a tunnel as ZM noted - I feel like you're trying to hypnotize this viewer.

Not sure you even need the word "facilities" - and did anyone mention kerning?

Overall though - good idea that just needs some refinement.

After some consultation with client taking the comments above into consideration...

Better but you still have some issues. "Going" looks taller than "Green". Not sure if it is - might be a visual thing, but you need to resolve that. "Green" actually looks scaled down vertically. The recycle "O" still needs more weight imo - but 2 circles looks a lot better than 4.

The separtor bar - | - has to go (or add some space on either side or something). It's just confusing things. And the left end of the black bar is hanging out too far. It shouldn't be perfectly even with the edge of the G's - rounded letters always hang a little. Check the bottom of your Gs to the baseline of the Ns - let the left side of the G's hang that far out to the left of the black box too.

Personally, I preferred the other green color too - but your client will probably pick the one he likes.

Much better.

The separator between recycling facilities bugs me still (maybe shrink it so it doesn't share the same character height?) and the kerning of GOI seems loose while NG feels tight to me. The recycling "o" character also feels too low in the line but that may or may not come off as my preference.

On a side note, anyone feel that the tagline/ descriptive font here needs to be a heavier weight? I'm not crazy about the thin strokes in it, feels like it will get lost really easily.

I like the layout of the updated version much better.

I'm seeing a really yellowish green though...it almost looks like a greenish yellow. Perhaps an actual green would work better? It could still be a warm green, just not so warm that it turns into yellow. ;-)

I think the lower arrows would be better if they go against the other arrows, so they could better understand the recycling symbol.
