Google Apps and MY Domain
SuziQ (28 pencils) | Wed, 2008-08-13 19:55Hi everyone...
I've been an in-house designer for years and never really had the need for an online portfolio of my own, but now, I have the opportunity to be on my own, a designers dream, right? Yeah, well I thought it would be so easy to pop my portfolio online and grab new clients left and right, boy was I wrong!
So on to the issue at hand. I created a Google Apps account, registered a domain name (the go through GoDaddy), so I have that. But, when I type in my new domain name it keeps defaulting to "start.mydomainname.com" and I don't want the "start" part in there, but when I disable the Google Apps Start Application and type in my new domain name I get the dreaded 404 error.
What's up with that? I mean, I paid for my domain name, I should be able to do as I please with it, right? Why do I have to have the google start up page as MY home page? I should be able to create my own website, right?
Am I just missing something here, or has anyone else run into this issue and maybe knows how to get around it?
Please help!
Thanks in advance.

Come on guys and gals, I know someone has a suggestion? I've been messing with this thing all day, ugh.
You don't need a domain name for a Google page. But since you went and bought one, tell GoDaddy to DNS forward your domain name to point to whatever your Google URL is.
