Google hates me

I've submitted my site (www.macintalk.com) to Google several times, and yet it hasn't been indexed. It's been months. On my previous site I had the same problems. What gives?

You should use google sitemap to make sure all your pages are indexed every day. I have a Drupal module if you need.

BTW, Google DID index your site: linky

Seems like I looked in the wrong place then, I was going by popular keywords people would use who would want to read info on my site. Hmm well, I still don't get why it insists on indexing entries on other sites about Macintalk that are over six months old.

...just not on the first few pages for the keywords. Try to look for a special combination of words that only exists on your site. For example: "Dashboard Widget az asztalon maradjon".

Your site is still new, so your page rank is 0/10. Once other sites start linking to it it will slowly go up. For example here is a booster link courtesy of creativebits: http://macintalk.com/ ;)

The higher the ranking of the site linking to you the better. cb has a google rank of 6/10, which is good but a site like Apple that has 10/10 or CNN that has 9/10 is even better.

NEVER add your site using the submit my site application. That will put you at the bottom of the list of sites to crawl. The best way to start off is posting your site in your bio in blogs like this but not spam.

Are you saying that it actually hurts to submit the site?

You only submit if it is your last option or if you have no friends.

First, let me tell you what you don't do. You don't use the "Add URL" form with Google at http://www.google.com/addurl.html. Believe it or not, using that form to let Google know about your site will actually hurt your PR and, at the same time, make Google rank you lower. In other words, you absolutely never want to use that form, or the similar form on any other search engine, to promote your website.

Never knew this. Could you explain a little bit how that would be?

I second the notion of putting your site on blogs, signatures, and posts. When I type in keywords relative to my site, MY particular site doesn't come up, but the top 3 are all posts on forums about my site, complete with a link right to it :)
