Great Screen rotation feature in 10.4
afterglow (571 points) | Wed, 2005-04-27 04:27Saw a piece on MacBidouille about the ability in 10.4 to rotate the screen. I was intending to get a 20" Cinema Display to use with the powerbook and this looks like it seals the deal for doing certain photoshop work. Would be great for indesign work as well. Just a case of buying a rotating third party mount. Also availble from a thread on MacNN

Surely it's a nice feature, but why would you need a vertical screen? Just for the fun of it?
I have actually used this feature, for a presentation, on WinXP. This can be very useful when presenting artwork or websites. However I do not see this feature improving anyones workflow at all.

i would like this feature and would use it... when setting up page layouts, it's great to view the page as big as possible, and this allows you to see it so much huger! :)
That's true!
…I had a Mac monitor from Radius that could pivot to landscape or portrait mode. (Come to think of it, I think it was called the Pivot.)
Anyway, I found that, even though some apps got in a snit about it, I used the portrait mode far more than landscape. It was just the right shape for so many things (and with the widescreen Cinema Display, it would be even better).
I just got a Cinema Display 23", and now I want a pivot for it! Does anyone have a name/address for a distributor? Thanks in advance.
