Greeting Card Idea: Tree branching out

Hi. I just wanted to canvas opinion on my greeting card idea. Is it actually funny? I can't remember any more. I think it was when I had the idea but by the time I finished it digitally I can't stand back and be subjective.

At the risk of starting something I won't be able to finish I think I'll leaf this well enough alone.

Could be a very poplar card.

funny? depends on who your target audience is. i looked at your site and to be brutally honest. no. almost none of them are funny at all. they sound like the types of jokes that young children tell.

if it costs you nothing to offer them, and you can produce them on demand as needed. then go for it! as there are almost certainly a few folks out there who may find them appealing...

but if you are coming out of pocket to produce any kind of inventory. i would STRONGLY advise against it.

This might help make you "Kieth drinks Like a fish card funny.

-- Keep Keith as a fish, lose the wording you have up top. Replace it with the one guy at the top with a bubble saying "Keith you're such a show off" and then have the guy at the bottom with head now face the viewer of the card and a bubble that say " Now Isn't that a 'Cliche'!". --

The phrase "Drinks like a fish is common place" so you don't have to spell it out to get the point across. Comedy should be simple and direct to it's intended audience, not as much literal.

THanks - that's useful :)

nasir makes a good point. i think what struck me was that the jokes were too obvious - too literal.

on the fish thing, you could probably be even more subtle. keiths friends might simply look at him hammering drinks and say "i guess we should have seen this one coming..."

Let's get to the root of the problem here because I think some people are missing the forest for the trees. There are all kinds of people out there and if YOU found these ideas funny, I'm sure someone else will too (not me, though... sorry). But wgzn here has a point - do on demand printing only. Cards are a tough sell no matter what's printed on them. As always - that's jmho, but then again... maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree.

I might be going out on a limb here, but you might just be barking up the wrong tree.

Without my sense of direction, I don't know where I'd be.

I liked your trace, you could work for a local newspaper or with some funny scriptwriter... The newspaper cartoons aren't always crazy laughing peaces... you could try now sex, political, social themes maybe you still need to find a right direction.

yes I'm brazilian xD
