Grunge Style In Modern Web Design
Ivan | Thu, 2008-01-31 07:55Most design trends come unexpectedly, evolve over time, become pointless and finally disappear from the design landscape. This holds particularly for web design, which is — just as every other creative field — prone for over-hyping and over-usage of trends. Being used excessively (sometimes properly, but mostly without any reasonable purpose), trends lose their ability to communicate information, express something unique or innovative and consequently lose their visual appeal.

Type styles today are so left and right wing. Grimy grunge or clean cut Helvetica and Univers--we're being fed all on a regular base. With me, it all depends on the mood, and of course what the job dictates. Lately, it's been Univers all the way--55 book and bold mainly. I'll need to find a job and/or client that needs to be grunged 'cause I'm really liking the looks of the Bleeding Cowboy.
Thanks for the post, Ivan. Downloaded some of the grunge to play with. Looked like fun.
Cheers.

Smashing Magz could just forgot to add the corelation of grunge design style with urban art in particular. Grungy vibes in urban art always interesting to enjoy ;)
