Guerilla Signs

Logo for sign business

They are a small start up sign shop.

They are looking for something different from other sign shops would be using.

The name comes from their view of their business being "in the trenches doing jobs for people when and where they need them done.

All critiques welcome.

Thanks

i see where you're going. and it makes sense but NOT in this case and NOT in this way.
the type choice is horrible.

what about any of this says "guerilla" to you?

wgzn's a bit harsh but makes a good point

you need to discuss w/ the client its intention and identity with why it chose its name and convey it to its logo.

the company's logo is its identity and the message or purpose of the business should be more clear in the logo

also consider adding a tag line at the bottom like

"Innovative Sign Solutions with Aggressive Turnarounds"

aggressive touching on the guerrilla aspect of the name

i think the logo just needs a lot more conceptualizing.

maybe provide a logo comp sheet w/ multiple sketches and concepts to choose from then go from there

The IDEA for the mark is a winner. The incarnation you presented however looks like a five minute illustrator job. Take your IDEA and make it work - make it interesting and easier to understand. If you all you did was make one of the letters a different color - it's going to make it 100% easier to understand on first glance. But you can go beyond that - this is where some of those crazy filters might help - try making it a sphere or something. Don't let a valid idea die due to poor execution.

The text is a different story - that is an epic failure. It doesn't fit the mark at all.

I think the name will cause confusion, because, guerrilla marketing is already a common practice. They will be starting out one step behind because the name lacks professionalism.

The logo on the other hand doesn't have a guerrilla feel to it, if you are going to be in the trenches making signs whenever and wherever, then the logo can't be a clean thin line drawing. It just doesn't tie together, you need to grunge it up quite a bit.

The type choice appears to be an afterthought here, like you spent some time making the s & g fit nicely together and then realized there was no name in there.

Put some more time into it and don't shy away from developing a number of concepts that are totally different from each other.

while the mark is decent. it smells corporate or engineering. not guerilla.
nothing about the mark or the type says "guerilla"

guerilla is about doing things unexpectedly, quick and dirty, on the cheap. fast but effective.

what youve presented says precision engineering, construction or logistics to me.

this logo seems Sergio Tachinni approach that is very Eighties and sorry the typography is a mess.

It doesn't have the staying power for a week nowadays.

yes I'm brazilian xD

Yes, it's very Sergio Tacchini, my first impression.

Change the color of G in the mark. Change font of Guerilla Signs. Or just make a new concept, make it your own.

So, akrigraphics thinks wgzn was being harsh? Really? Boo freaking hoo. This ain't no "let's blow smoke up your butt" tea sipping group hug party. One asks for a critique, they better have their big girl panties on...
.

That design isn't very good. wgzn is being polite. I am just being blunt. The crest looks like the designer stole it from page 81 of a corporate monogram book from the freaking 80's. The type choice is poor. Oh boy, lets use an Avant Garde knock off font. Nothing says "Guerrilla" more than such a staid font. Neither the mark or the letter style used fits the role.

.
So, Let's take the name "Guerilla Signs". Guerrilla brings an image of war, military, boot camp... Quick strikes... loose... Signs says what they do. Institutional. This dictated my choice of letter styles used. "Guerilla" is a loose style yet bold. "Signs" is a stencil in a military style. The mark is a stylized Sergeant's patch.

.
The design presented isn't to do the work of the designer but rather to show a completely different approach. It is easier for me to show you what i am talking about. That also means "Don't steal it... it isn't yours to take".

you can be blunt. without being a huge tool.
might wanna give that a try ; )

as far as your design goes. again, aesthetically a step forward.
but i dont generally associate "guerilla" with traditional military iconography.

Tool? Surely you could have done better than such a juvenile phrase.

Iconography... (fumbling in pocket for a nickel)... Much better use of language. It is almost aesthetically pleasing.
