PandorasGift (18 pencils) | Mon, 2008-06-16 19:39Hello,
I can't remember how to save an image in Photoshop as pantone color for InDesign for a 2 color job.
Thanks :)

Image>Mode>Duotone>Monotone> then select your pantone number.
Hope this is the answer you were searching for.

Hello,
I saved the image as PDS. It was a monotone with the Pantone channel. When I tried to place into InDesign, something weird takes place. The whole page of text is gone.
Thanks,

Could you have covered the text area(s) with your newly-imported picture box? Or...is it a PSD of text that you're trying to place and the text within that Photoshop file has up and disappeared?

Save the image as a PSD and import into InDesign.
Saving in the PSD format retains any/all Pantone channels you create, along with any CMYK channels you have as well.
-----------
Visit The Graphic Mac for graphics and Mac OS tips, reviews, tutorials and discussion.
Go to your channels palette, copy the CMYK channel that you want to use. Double click it. Change it to a "spot color" --the pantone color of choice. Now, choose the C, M, Y, K channels. Delete everything from those channels. Keep it as an .psD. Voila.
I followed your instructions the image looks black, I saved the file as PSD when I brought it to InDesign I got this error message.
The file uses an unsupported color space. Only RGB, CMYK, LAB, grayscale. indexed and bitmap formats are supported by the photoshop filter.
I never encounter a problem before. I'm working on a 2 color book(balck & Pantone. So I don't remember how to save an image/logo using one pantone color. Can it be CMYK plus a 1 pantone? I've done this before in Illustrator but I am not sure how to handle the CMYK mode.
Thanks,

you want just the one color, right?
let's keep it simple.
image | mode | grayscale
image | mode | duotone
select monotone.
under ink 1, select your pantone color, hit OK.
save file as EPS.
place in InDesign.
old school, simple. just as 3dogmama described, but save as EPS.
This is how I do it. Can't go wrong. Saving as eps is the key here.
good information, I've been trying to figure this out for some time.
