HELP - labels for high-end skin cream/perfume bottles
jazzy (7 points) | Sat, 2008-02-16 02:24Hi All,
I've got my first packaging/labeling job and could really use some pointers. I'm pretty green in this area.
The labels are to be hand-applied to high-end skin cream/perfume bottles. The actual bottles are cheap and don't have as even a surface as I would like BUT the product inside & the market they are after is high-end...(Thinking Prada, not Walmart.)
The printer I've been in touch with has quoted the job on "matte laminated 2.6M white BOPP with RP37 adhesive". Is this a good choice of material? Should I be considering something else?
The design has a lot of PMS metallic coverage – with text overtop... Is this a disaster waiting to happen? Should I consider replacing the metallic ink?
thanks!

With labels it's always trial and error...do they peel up, how do they look when they are wet, how does the ink lay down...if the label bends to much will it crack or stretch? See if you can get a sample of the actual material and run it through a laser printer, or just apply it to the bottle and see how it goes. Good luck! PS Metallics should be fine, I have done several metallic labels.
Doh! first post, got slap happy with the Post button :P
