I like this a lot, very clean.

Really good timing too as i am in the process of setting up my own personal Drupal based site. This will force me to do something even better.

I would be interested in how you plan to do the portfolio section. Are you going to use the Image gallery module or simply use taxonomy to separate articles in portfolio section with full size images and description below?

Just logged on to mail my uncle before fast opens for today and I couldn’t help notice but the stats were booming.

Actually, your post is a coincidence Mijlee. Right now I'm brainstorming for better content and focus and part of it was to show the process of how I'm looking to display the portfolio.
