Hey now, come and tear me up ;]

An old acquintance of mine is owning a company dealing with network and internet programming. I found him recently on the web and when seeing their home page, where you can see their present logo, i felt frustrated. I do not like that logo. I think it is even typographically incorrect.
Logo here

So i decided to design him a better and up-to-date logo. I wouldn't like to tell you more right at the moment about the logo, let's see what you really think of it when just meeting it.

To be honest I kinda like his old logo better. Actually the old logo is kinda nice. It conveys tech without being too techy. It's a kinda sleak logo, conveys speed, tranfer of information, etc.

Right now your logo is very chunky and horsey. The relationship between the symbol and type just isn't working. And I don't know if you really have to say "IT" its looking like the word it (instead of info technology). You might want to rethink the symbol, something less boxy as well as the type being much less heavy.

Just my thoughts, just trying to help out. Hope i did.

now Axiom-IT is their official name :) Why should i leave it?

Yeah i am most constructive.

The typeface i dreamt to be heavy, as i have created it.

I was thinking maybe just to leave the logotype.

Anyway, i think the old logo is bad, it's a kinda typographical disaster what to those letters have been done. I mean it seams like being in somekinda perspective, but it is really messed up. And the IT part of the company name is missing.

Charlie is fine, but the actual name "charlie" has been taken by someone else that never posts!

Yes the perspective is a bit funky.

Maybe when you get to the color stage your logo might be a little less heavy.

was thinking on trying to leave just thin outlines for the symbol in the logo. It works fine with the one in the middle.

the perspective is totally fucked up if you don't mind :) Anyway i do not really like when putting letters in perspective. I respect letters too much ;]

i second charlie's comment, the old logo has been well thought out. The logo that you are working on only brings out the negitive aspects of the tech world.

Dear second Charlie, i don't think the old logo is much more than a piece of shit. Have you ever learned typography? You should, i tell u.

Well, it's funny that you think my logo brings out the negative aspects of the tech world (wow), just because it is mostly constrained from perfect shapes.(?) That's bullshit :) It's like when i was reading on a company's site that they are designing web sites with the help of feng-shui. Of course their whole portfolio was not worth watching it. Know why? Instead of reading feng-shui books they should have hired a graphician...

It's more of a general comment, not directed at you Sasi.

We learn from you and you learn from others. I understand that people are trying to defend their concepts they believe in and put effort into creating them, but we all have different tastes and we're just trying to help (mostly :). Graphic design is not an exact science. There is no right or wrong, it's all about emotions that you ewoke in people with your design.

Besides, Sasi you asked to be torn up. ;) Keep them coming!

I can divide critiques into 2 parts. One part is when you think of it and other part is just when you say sg stupid. In the latter category people just say things they won't even believe when rereading it. A critique must come from very deep. You have to use a very strong selfcritique when creating a critique of someone else or someone else's work.

When you feel you can't relate to a crit, you can just disregard it consciously, but still surely it will stay in the back of your mind subconsiously, which does shape your skills and taste, so all crit is good in a way.

I must say - I have to agree with Charlie on this one. His points are valid.

There is something interesting in your logo, but I'm not sure what it stands for.

Maybe if you keep the symbol on an agle but the type straight they would work better together. The third version could be smthg interesting.

I don't like the type as it is. The font is a bit unproportionate.

The third one has the most potential out of them all.

What do you mean by being not proportionate? What are the things you would change on the font?

Ivan's picture

I have to tell you i didn't click the view original at first. In small size the M is way too bold compared to the other letters for example. In the original size the font looks good though.

huhh, i was afraid you would tell me sg. really bad mistake. I am really picky in typography or when designing a typeface, couldn't imagine what i could have forgotten ;]

Hi Sasi! I agree with the others... I actually like the first one better than your new one... doesn't mean that you can't change our mind when you tweak it a little. I personally just don't like boxy logos. What is the significance of the graphic? I like the far right one, sans the graphic.

Don't be offended by negative comments, at least no one has attacked you personally, yet. ;)

the graphic is pointing at systems and networks, i could say communication as well as that, but i do not like talking about meanings, maybe others would associate neither of those what i did.

Besides it is an IT entertainment, installing network systems, creating programmes, etc. And these things are little bit of engineering. And i like constructive logos, i like bauhaus, and so do i technical compamies having good technical logos, that sometimes means being boxy i think.
