Hi, new here :)

Hi everyone...
I am new here, and new to learning graphics... OK, a newbie all the way around, and I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself before I start asking questions and posting!

My name is Gretchen, and I am coming to digital design from a background in the fine and decorative arts. I have been painting murals, doing upscale painted furniture, decorative design, and fine art through my own business for the past 15 years.... and I needed a change! What better way than to learn something new? I am not sure yet whether I will be looking to change careers or just add to my skill set and marketing abilities. I do know though, that learning from pros and other students will add a lot to my experience.

I have always been self taught in the arts, so the going back to school thing is pretty new to me. I know that I will be learning in class, but I also have every intention of seeking out information on my own, and soaking up great design wherever it can be found.

One of my first assignments in class is to come up with a personal logo design... I worry that what I am working on is too rough to post here for critique, but hopefully one day soon I will be asking for feedback. In the meantime, I will keep reading the forums and looking at the work here.
