How to create a movie in Flash
Ivan | Wed, 2006-06-14 16:09I would like to create a movie that is embedded in a web page, just like it's done on youtube or google videos. I found a mediaplayer in the library, but can't figure out how to use it. Please help!

Since it would take a while to explain this, I'll redirect you to a site that will explain it a lot better than i possibly could.
http://gotoandlearn.com/ has a very good series of video tutorials on how to embed videos in Flash (scroll down in the "select a tutorial" box and choose "video basics - part 1").
They don't take long and are very thorough.
Success
thank you!
I want to use the built in MediaPlayback component, but for that I need to convert the mov files to flv format. I tried ffmpegx, but it fails. Is there an easy way to convert movies to flash video format? Thanks!
Do you have QuickTime Pro?
I'm not sure if it works with the normal QuickTime, but if you have QT Pro, you can export the movie to Macromedia Flash Video (FLV).
I do have QT pro, but I can seem to have the option even after installing the Flash_Video_Exporter.
I've tried to use the MediaPlayback component with a test movie i downloaded from the net. I gave the name of the flv file in the url section of the component inspector, but when i publish the movie it doesn't seem to play anything.
Hey Ivan, what version of Flash are you using?
Ivan if you want mate, i'll chat this over with you on IM a little later if you're on.
In a nutshell though, using Flash 8 ( mx / mx2004 was not as easy)
- If Flash recognises your video format when you goto file/import video you're pretty much done lol
- you can tell flash to have the file imported /used as a external flv. Flash will automatically make the FLV file when it imports if you choose that option!
When you've got that done, and imported/etc. you can just link to the video in the parameters panel. You should be ok to go then...
If you cant get flash to recognise the video, make sure the format is either mpeg4 / mov .
Any probs, just drop me an email buddy.

learn from everywhere
Swish isnt really comparable to flash, it might be nice to use and get those popular features on a flash site ( like guestbook/mp3 player/drop down menu or whatever) but for things like video integration, or advanced fuctions and database integration you really should use flsah 8 pro. It might not be the nicest of programs out there, but it does the job - well.

you can use
video to flash converter at geovid.com website..
but note that for mov files you HAVE to install Quick Time Alternative codec.

sorry if I late.
I use Flasconv converter. Good and simpe program for converting movie to flash and there make generate html for website. If it still actually you can try it.

Good luck!!!
I'll second the easiest and fastest way is to Import Video, navigate to an flv and follow the four/five screen questions and you're done.
If you have Flash 8 Pro, you should have the Flash Encoder app. When you install Pro version, it installs the plug-ins for QT, After Effects and I think Premier, but I'n not sure on that one. I use mainly the Flash Econder app that came with Flash 8 Pro.
Or, I export a QT from AfterEffects to get my flv.
