all of your programs should go in the APPLICATIONS folder.

Sometimes the program you installed has an uninstall button in its folder.

Other times, you may want to open the original intall file and select uninstall.

worst comes to worst you can always manually uninstall by dragging and dropping the program folder into the trash. Of course if its a rather complex program like final cut, you'll have to do a little searching for other folders the application had created.
