Huge Annoyance in Finder Date Modified View
afterglow (571 pencils) | Wed, 2006-03-08 13:44I have a folder with all my projects in it, logically enough called Design. I have this folder sorted by date modified in the Finder to keep new and recent projects near the top. I've used OS X since it came out in 2001 but I stil haven't figured out what criteria it uses to sort the items.
Sometimes after saving a batch of files within a folder it will refuse to move to the top of the list, no matter how many new files or folders you place within it. Other folders seem to go to the top which haven't been viewed in months.
Even more maddening is the fact that sometimes it updates the folder position but only when you click on the folder. This means clicking on a folder 3rd in the list could open a totally different folder as it rearranges the folder listing to it's on whim upon clicking. This behaviour has me driven mildy demented at this stage. Does anyone else run into this on a daily basis or found a cure for it?

I just click on another folder and then back on the one I was previously in. That refreshes the list. Hopefully someone else will be able to elaborate on why this happens, but I agree. It is annoying.
