Ice Cream Logo
jjohnson1032 (68 pencils) | Tue, 2010-10-12 20:00I made this logo a few years back for an ice cream company, at the time they just needed a really simple logo that signified royalty. I would like to update it and make it better any ideas. I don't know if it is because it is trapped in a square but I feel almost trapped by it whenever I attempt to create promotional pieces around it.

To me this looks more like a label for beer, not for ice cream.
Beer? lol. ok, I never thought of that, is it at least good beer? or watered down beer?
It may just be me. It has the look of a premium import. Something like Royal Beer's label.

Try losing the box as you suggested. Then play with size, font and type placements
ie. stylizing Richard's and tipping the crown on the huge head of the "R"...
Or a very regal font for Richard's stacked over top a small crown, a simple quality-stamp looking crown; and then beneath this tiny classy simple crown the tagline sans banner.
And although typically a bank font, I'd try Copperplate here; or Trajan; or Trade Gothic.
Then work your SUPER PREMIUM ICECREAM into whatever will work with your revamped Richard's.
I look forward to seeing this progress.
Cheers.

I thought it was a label for beer too. what if you made a crown out of ice cream cones w/ ice cream on top?
I have attached a VERY rough digital sketch- no fonts picked - just a general idea of a concept. Work more on the illustration based on my sketch

Thanks guys, you have really given me some good ideas to think about, I had lost excitement for this project but now the excitement is back.
I still can't feel it premium.
yes I'm brazilian xD
Yeah like the others say need to reduce the elements. Purple and yellow might need to be reduced in use. Maybe just in banner, or crown.
You lost excitement for this? It's ICE CREAM! We live for logos like this - get your ass to work!
lol. This is for one of my dad's companies and he is my most demanding client.
I looked up the name meaning for Richard and it means a powerful leader (king.) Just wondering, is that why you used a crown?
yeah, exactly. It was supposed to be like a royal theme with the crown and the crest shape
Ok, I think that it is a good connection, but it still doesn't give off a premium ice cream vibe. I think you should go with the crown made of ice cream. It is clever and pretty funny.
