Identity Logo
jarofclay (21 points) | Thu, 2009-10-29 16:36I've been working on an identity logo. My fiance and I both do landscape/irrigation design so I've played off of that. I'm also starting to do general graphic design. Please tell me what you think. Thanks!

I like the tree, but I don't know if it is supposed to be a letter or if it seperates the Koen from the G- plus the gras being as tall as the tree trunk doesn't seem to convey the message of a manicured lawn or nice landscape. Now that I look at it more, the tree seems dead too. That said, um... maybe start over? What if you took out the tree and dirt and left the letters knocked out of the grass? Then, put "designs" at the bottom in a color?

Unless you're selling your companies services as graphic/landscape design, I think they should be sold and represented separately. Also, there are way too many details in the tree and grass to be considered a logo, although it does make a decent illustration.

I'm going to print it out and eat it.

This is a good starting point - I like the ideas. I do agree that it needs simplifying.
This is just an idea so please disregard at will:
Could you lose the tree and use some of your stylized blades of grass or shoots as the 'I' instead? Would help to keep it simple and organic which seems to suit.
Also, following on from Leaky, I'd be tempted to lose 'designs' and use the simplified KOENIG logo as the umbrella for your diverse company. The blades of grass could then symbolize both the landscape/irrigation side and the fresh roots/shoots/seeds of your design work.
How you apply the logo will differentiate between your work. Your logo doesn't need to say it all - which is great, means you don't have to work so hard! :0)
I'm with Leaky on the "decent illustration" part. Other than that... it doesn't work for me. As Riskart said - landscaping implies clean manicured lawns and trees. Design is also a clean, streamlined form of art. This looks like a Halloween graveyard scene or something - especially the black and white version.
don't cause me any positive vibration
it's sad and maybe good for a never heard grunge band logo
yes I'm brazilian xD
Showing 3 feet high grass and a dead tree, I'm sorry but I wouldn't hire you for my landscape and irrigation design. Well, not by your logo that is. Then again, I don't need a landscap and irrgation designer... oh well!

I read "Koenig" right off the bat; no problem there for me. I agree, though, that the overall impression here is one of death and neglect -- the very opposite of what you presumably want to convey. Please do re-think your concept and try something different.
I wouldn't recommend that you use the same logo for a graphic design business that you would use for landscape design. You'd be doing both businesses a disservice by not providing a clear identity for each one.

Agreed on separating the two, unless you're running a full service branding company that provides services including design, advertising, interior design, landscaping etc.
Split the two, otherwise you'll just create confusion and/or distrust in your skills.

Yep, I agree, but I would still have logos in a simulair style, but maybe that goes without saying. Example:
