iLife question
Ivan | Sat, 2005-04-23 15:28When I got my iMac 20" besides the OS I had iLife, games and other verious sofware installed on the machine. But, I only got CDs for the OS. If I do a clean install how is Apple expecting me to reinstall GarageBand and all the software they didn't provide installation disks for? It's not a rant, just curious.

iLife get's installed when you make a fresh install.. (Think so?)
I think that the dmgs for the iLife package is at the 2nd disc.. I could mistake..
That's how it is with my iBook, however, when you upgrade to Tiger, doing a clean install, I believe you are screwed. Perhaps move the apps to an external drive? That's what I plan on doing. Then just move it back.
Do they say they are restoration CDs ...or are they retail panther CDs?
If they are restoration CDs (which they should be) the iLife apps are probably on the last disk. You can either use a program like Pacifist to install partial packages ...or it may have them as their own .mpkg that you can just double click to install

On my friend's iMac he got a CD and a DVD for iLife besides the system CD (but that was thanks to the Apple dealer, it's not on there by default...)
I'd actually go check my Panther Restore CDs, but i'm on the couch, and they're all the way over there on the desk. I'll check for any pkgs later, and report back.
