Vonster (29 pencils) | Wed, 2006-07-19 06:58Last summer I was asked to teach a digital illustration class at the local college visual arts program once a week here in Salem, Oregon. I had never taught before so this was a whole new experience for me. I quickly realized the way my students learned best was when I demonstrated a process. I literally showed them how to go about doing a creative task and commented on it. This led me into developing numerous step by steps I could show them each week.
Over the course of last year I built up a nice little archive of teaching resources. I also posted them on the 'HOW Design Forum' to let other creatives benefit from them and due to that being received so well I decided to give them a proper home on their own site.
You can download all my teaching step by step tutorials at:

I hope you enjoy them.

This is really a great resource for me, since I'm only starting to work digitally it's awesome to have a place to learn a lot of really good technical things! There is a lot I don't know about getting the results I want, so this allready has been handy in finding out how to do stuff.
Thanks a million!

This has to be the best place on the internet for anything illustration. Not only is your style fantastic but the fact that you have taken the time to show how to do the artwork as well is testament to just how good you are at your trade.
You should think about turning that site into a paid tutorial download site. You would do really well from it.
BTW is that Expression Engine that you are using to run the site on?
Fantastic work! Please keep up all your great art as it is a real pleasure to see.
Best wishes,
Mark
The site is a custom design I did and it's published using 'Word Press'. My friend Dani did the production of the site to get it technically working I just designed it.
My design firm does well so thankfully I don't have to charge.
I am actually one of the last Mohicans, I use FreeHand. I am learning CS2 but I still prefer the build tools in FreeHand they are far easier to use. That said the tutorials are done in a way that applies to any drawing application.
Thanks for the feedback by all who posted I really appreciate it.
