illustrator help

hey everyone, I know my basics of illustrator, but I'm having a problem when i'm trying to freehand stuff on my tablet... whenever i use the brush tool or the pencil tool after i make one stroke i have to do the next stroke far away from it or else it combines the two strokes or adds to the previous stroke... its really frustrating when trying to do a lot of detail. I also use freehand a bit and their brush tool is so much better for using a tablet, i dont have any of those issues...

Maybe i'm just overlooking a option in the preferences ...

I'm using illustrator cs, and a wacom tablet if that helps anyone..
