illustrator help

i dont know if this is the right place but i have a 2 color file and for some reason black still keeps showing up on the output instead of the two pantones is there a way to "search and find a color" i have separated it out and the black separation shows up blank i have clicked on every object to check its color and it seems all good i deleted all the swatches and i am still left with black i also deleted all stray points using the cleanup function in the pathfinder any ideas would be great thanks
