Illustrator Pasteboard!!
sidgrafix (5 pencils) | Tue, 2010-08-03 17:31Hi all.. This may be a silly question!
-but I've looked and searched and played trying to find it.. "If it exists?" Is there a way to change the pasteboard color in Illustrator??? Not the background color of the Artboard... But the pasteboard like you can in Photoshop.. Currently Using CS4
Thanks,

Was looking for something similar, but looks like we're out of luck with this one as far as I can see: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2026770
May I ask what you want to do, and why?
Have no idea why you'd want to do that, but a quick workaround would be to create a new layer and draw a colored box on top of the pasteboard. Then lock the layer so you can't move the box accidentally. That's what I do in psd to check art against different colored backgrounds, etc...
Art,
In photoshop you can do that in a different way.
Choose a foreground color
Select the Paint bucket tool
Hold down shift key and click in the grey area
now you have a background in that specific color
to reset choose 50% black as your foreground color
Yes, but I like to switch on and off - iow, I use the checkered background also. Old habits.
