Imageready -> CS3
stephanie (518 points) | Thu, 2007-06-28 15:51Even before buying the Design Premium CS3, I read that Imageready as a whole would be cut out from the application selection. This made me excited, because I also heard that it's functions would be brought over to the regular Photoshop or Photoshop Extended.
Recently, I've found (through experimentation) that only some of it's functions were brought through, or I haven't found them yet. More specifically, I opened PS to make some basic image rollovers, and found that there is no such option to do so in what is now called the "Slice Option" menu. You can still export HTML, but I've found no way to do rollovers, or image-mapping.

Also, I was under the impression that Design Premium was perfect for web development - but now I'm finding myself in an awkward position without Fireworks.
Has anyone else found this to be rather frustrating, or am I just not with the program? It's not like I use rollovers or imagemaps everyday, but it's something that I was very familiar with in Imageready. What have you done to get past this?

I don't use the built in rollovers in photoshop nor the code. I make my own rollovers and write my own code.
Well, it's not that photoshop has "built in" rollovers, but it has an export function that lets you export all images optimized and with the javascript code. . .

what pokie is saying is, most people don't use the code that adobe generates. we use it just for layout then do the coding in a 3rd party program (dreamweaver, golive, etc.etc.)
the adobe code is sad to say, often junk. maybe that clarifies his post

ahem, HER point.
And yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. I've had wayyyy too many issues with the code Photoshop comes up with.
You need to get the Web Premium Suite which has Fireworks.

I have to say Adobe's software package descriptions are far too numerous and confusing.
